As a company, we are committed to providing a rewarding workplace and giving back to our community to impact the world around us positively. We believe that our success as a business goes hand in hand with our ability to make a difference in the lives of others. This year, to celebrate Employee Appreciation Day and the growth of our team, DILO organized our first 40-for-40 Employee Appreciation Donation Drive to support nonprofit organizations valued by our team.
To kick off the charity drive, DILO emailed all employees, inviting them to participate in the initiative. The email explained the purpose of the charity drive and how employees could contribute. DILO pledged a donation of $40 dollars to a charity of each employee's choice and held a lottery to select one of the charities recommended by our team members to donate an additional $4,000 in our employee's name directly to the charity.
The response was overwhelming, and the charity donation drive was a huge success, with employees submitting their charities of choice for the cause.
"Seeing how this donation drive impacted our team and, more importantly, learning about the charities that mean something to each team member ended up bringing our team closer in ways we never imagined." – Corey Ratza
Here are a couple of examples of what our team had to say:
Thank you so much for this opportunity, The charity I have chosen is Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. In addition to providing support for children both nationally and locally, this organization has a special program that includes mentoring for military children. I understand firsthand the impact additional support would mean for a child whose parent is away from home on duty. Children are truly the key to the future of the world. The smallest gesture now can leave an impression that will last a lifetime.
I'm choosing Youth On Their Own. It's a local organization here in Tucson AZ that has a great reputation. It helps homeless youth with continued success through high school graduation. My wife works for one of the school districts here in Tucson and they work closely with this organization. Unfortunately, Tucson's homeless student population is quite high which is making high school graduation rates plumet. Donating to a charity of this nature I believe would help significantly with combatting these issues and helping our youth move on from high school to be being valuable members of society as young adults. Here's a link to the website below where donations can be made. Thanks again, this is a really cool idea. I'm glad to be a part of it!

The nonprofit organization chosen through the lottery was Team Teen, a local charity in the Tampa Bay area supporting teenagers in foster care. Pete's (DILO Technician) donation of $4,040 will go to supporting teenagers in foster care and/or teenagers living in group homes. Since most toy drives are geared toward younger children, Team Teen will be fulfilling wish lists submitted by foster teens and supporting foster teens affiliated with the Guardian ad Litem program. A few words from Pete, the DILO team member who nominated Team Teen:
The charity of choice for me is called Team Teen and it was started by a really good friend of mine named Elise. She has worked very hard to help teens in the foster care system. The donation goes to supporting teenagers in foster care and group homes. Elise started this charity when she worked as a case manager for Hillsborough county and has helped a lot of teens in the system. Thank you so much for the donation and this is really what makes this company so great to work for.
Incorporating charitable initiatives and donations into a company's culture can be a powerful way to promote employee growth and create a rewarding place to work. As DILO continues to grow, we are committed to creating a positive work environment with a strong company culture and values that can help foster a sense of community and belonging among employees, making a positive impact beyond the typical day-to-day work.
